Simple Ways to be an Advocate

Advocacy is defined as the act or process of supporting a cause or proposal. In the case of advocating for individuals with Down syndrome, advocacy is focused mainly on these areas:

  • Inclusion
  • Education
  • Healthcare
  • Research
  • Employment

These are important issues, and understandably so, sometimes people aren’t sure where to get started. The solution is simple:

Take every opportunity you have to use your voice and educate people about Down syndrome.

The best approach is to pick an area that is most important to you and start there. For example, if you are passionate about inclusion, focus simply on inclusion.

Simply using your own voice is the most powerful action you can take to advocate for individuals with Down syndrome. We encourage everyone to use their voices today and advocate for the people we love.
